At one end of The Diani  Beach Shopping Center, lies an impressive white thatched building that is home to the well known Ngiri Bar & Restaurant.  The name is a Swahili derivative of the owners surname  - Geary. Ngiri is Swahili for warthog but this charming watering hole has nothing that will remind you of the hog apart from the sign at the entrance. The location is ideal and easy to access for those shopping at the centre with ample seats outside facing parking lot.

    Inside Ngiri Bar & Restaurant
Once you walk into the Ngiri Bar & Restaurant , you  will find a relaxed place that is homely and welcoming.  The whole place is well laid out with 3 sections starting with a restaurant at the front, a bar and a courtyard at the back for those who would like to sit outside  and  enjoy a little breeze. It is an EZ (easy) place and the  stylishly simple but cosy restaurant area invites you to slouch on the couch and ask for a cold larger before anything else.

The Ngiri Bar & Restaurant Atmosphere
The Ngiris Bar and Restaurant is a relaxed and completely chilled out atmosphere where you can slip right in cool the off with a cold drink with minimal fuss. The staff are quick and attentive . The Ngiri Bar & Restaurant is generally an EZ  place to have some quality time with the family. This bar is not a feisty-hard-party kind of bar as compared to some other Diani Beach Bars. There is is a sitting area at the back with some EZ seats where you can relax, enjoy the breeze, live music on Saturdays and darts.

In addition, you can catch favourite sports on the TV and from the look of things, its all about the English premier league with a possible bias to Newcastle UTD.
The live band plays at Ngiri Bar and Restaurant on Saturday afternoons, doing renditions of mostly 80’s music . I remember Lionel Richie’s -Hello.

    Ngiri Bar & Restaurant Menu
The restauarant  has a balanced menu that will cater for every taste. If you are a big breakfast kind of person, you could try ; Bacon, pork sausage, fried egg, fried bread or toast, Heinz baked beans, tomato, potatoes & fresh mushrooms, all for 500 /-. That ought to fill most people up for a whole day!  The rest of the menu comes with mouthwatering options that range from prawns  Ratatouille, apple pie and duck alongside various pizzas and sandwiches.

First thing I do is peel the beer label of the bottle as soon as I get it. If the label comes off too easily then the drink is cold enough, that’s my measure right there. The labels on the beers served at Ngiri Bar & Restaurant  almost fell off by themselves. Diani Beach can be hot and when a beer is served that cold at 130/-. What not to like? The waiter was keen and quick, like the say; chapchap , and the bar well stocked with all kinds of vodka, whisky, brandy and everything else and the lovely dark wooden finish of the bar is classy to say the least.
