LikeHaving just come back (Dec 2010) from a stay at Asha Cottage, I whole-heartedly recommend it. Their 'Excellent' rating on Tripadvisor is well deserved. They currently have 58 excellent reviews and rising... ours will be added to this soon! Asha is a beautiful spot for a relaxing holiday. Right on the beach, it has fantastic views and good facilities. Rooms are air-conditioned, with mozzy nets on the windows too, we did not get bitten or even see one mosquito there during our 6-day stay.
Apparently the beach-front position helps this too, because of the constant cooling breeze, which is most welcome! The food and staff are excellent, they have their own 'ngalawa' (little boat) that you can go snorkelling on for 500 Kenyan Shillings (about £4), plus the mentioned massages (the aromatherapy one was very relaxing!) and they are a 'responsible tourism' business too. I think it is 10% of their income that goes to local community groups, they have an education fund for staff, and stock products from local groups in their little boutique. They also support the Colobus Trust and the Amadeus Children's Home, so guests can rest assured that while they enjoy a relaxing stay at Asha, they are also giving something back and supporting the local community.
